Complaint: Six months after purchasing a brand new 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE, the paint is flaking off the hood. The dealer and Toyota USA have refused to repaint the hood, citing "environmental reasons" (Florida Love Bugs). I have driven many cars for hundreds of thousands of miles through Love Bugs. I have never had one mark on a car, let alone the 50 spots on my Sienna's hood. Their selection of an inferior paint leaves no doubt in my mind that they are incompetent.
The service manager at the dealer said the recommend spraying cooking oil on the hood to protect the paint during Love Bug season. The Toyota Customer service hot-line said the paint is not covered under the warranty, and Toyota USA in California said the same thing.
Don't be fooled into buying a Toyota because of their "reputation". In todays world, they suck worse than US manufacturers. This is the only car I have ever bought that had defect issues. Toyota Sucks.

Complaint: Stadium Toyota was not forthcoming about the "gel settlement" they tried to charge me $3-5K to overhaul or replace my engine. My 2002 Highlander fell under the gel settlement law suit claim and Stadium Toyota finally did overhaul my engine for free on NOV 07. But this was only after much debate and letter-writing. Since then, my check engine light has come on twice. Now they tell me that I may need a new charcoal filter. They also threaten to charge every time they diagnose my engine light. I argue that if they just overhauled my engine a few weeks ago, they should cover any anomalies referenced by my check engine light for free.
